Deep Creek

Mediums: Linoleum Prints

Date: January - March 2023

This series of linoleum prints was created to reflect how my childhood experiences in nature sparked my curiosity and shaped my artistic journey. My family frequently visited Deep Creek Lake, where we explored the surrounding woods—nights spent waiting for bears to knock over trash cans, and mornings tying grass to sticks in hopes our makeshift fishing rods might catch dinner. It was during these moments that I began to truly observe and question the natural world around me.

As the years passed and my skills evolved, I felt compelled to honor these memories through linoleum prints. This medium was chosen not only to create multiple copies that I could share with my family but also to experiment with color variations that reflect how memories shift over time. Was it a black bear? A brown bear? The details may blur, but what truly matters are the moments spent with loved ones in an environment that nurtured my artistic development.
